‘…give, and it will be
given to you. Good measure,
pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For
with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.’
Luke 6:38
You can’t out-give
God.
Scripture says He owns the cattle on
a thousand hills. God’s resources are infinite.
And when we give because we are responding to God’s love for us, He
blesses richly.
How does this work
today?
God’s ultimate gift to us is His
Son, Jesus Christ. The Gospel explains how Jesus, Who knew no sin, became sin
for our sake…so that in Him, we might become the righteousness of God. (2
Corinthians 5:21). Living out the Gospel
transforms our hearts and minds.
One family at Christ Community Chapel
has experienced God’s blessing as they have shown their generosity through
donating contents for Thanksgiving Baskets for neighbors in need.
Last year, they donated contents for
four baskets, or enough food to feed 40 to 48 people a generous Thanksgiving
feast. They have experienced so much blessing that they have decided to fill
five Thanksgiving Baskets this year, and to continue ‘upping’ the amount by one
basket per year.
This family sees giving as a
down-to-earth way to communicate God’s love to others. And in the process, giving baskets in the
name of God adds a tangible, deeper meaning to the family’s expression of
thanks to God. Living out the Gospel of
Jesus Christ transforms our hearts!
