CCC Serving Spree: Shine Your Light

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

Good deeds do not make us right with God, but they can be evidence of a right relationship.

Saving faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to a right relationship with God.  However, when we are in that relationship, good deeds motivated by God’s love can bring glory to His name.

Where can I start?

You can start with the skills and interests you have to bring the healing and restoration of the Kingdom of God to others. Christ Community Chapel’s Serving Spree initiative has some suggestions for you.

For example, you don’t have to be a doctor or nurse to help Faithful Servants bring Christ-centered urgent care to those in need.

If you have skills in cleaning, you can volunteer to clean Faithful Servants’ medical clinic in Tallmadge, Ohio on a 4th Saturday of the month. You could also tour their facility and learn about all their medical mobile clinics caring for the uninsured all over Akron. For more details, contact Kathi Bertolini at .

If you’re a runner or walker, you can register to participate in The Faithful Servants 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk Monday, September 4, 2017. This fund raising event will bless Faithful Servants in assisting individuals and families in our community who do not have access to medical care.  This is a family friendly event that will be lots of fun for all involved.  For more information, contact Kathi Bertolini at .

Go shine your light. The serving options are almost endless!

Serving Spree: Taste and See

Taste and see that the Lord is good…

From Psalm 34:8

To get a flavor for God’s work, we need to taste it.

Sometimes the best way to understand what God is doing through a ministry is to visit and get a sense of its heartbeat.

Each CCC Local Outreach ministry partner has its own flavor.

For example, Rahab Ministries seeks to reach, rescue and redeem women ensnared in sex trafficking.  To better understand how Rahab works to bring the Kingdom of God to these broken women, a group of Christ Community Chapel people recently visited Rahab’s house in Akron.

Refreshments were served, tasted and enjoyed.  However, the main course was an explanation by a dedicated Rahab worker of exactly how the ministry approaches women in the name of Jesus.  Visitors also came to understand how these women can be transformed by the life saving message of the Gospel.

Why not do some tasting of your own?

You could easily make a visit to a local ministry partner, and gain insight into their Kingdom work.  Start by taking a look at the website to see which ministries might resonate with you, your family or your community group.  You might further your understanding by contacting Barbara Ammirati of the Local Outreach team at .  The best way to learn where you might help is to taste and see what our Lord is doing!

Kingdom Assignments: Serving Others

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10

God has gifted us with a purpose in mind.

That purpose is to serve others in His name. Serving is a way of pouring out the overflow of His love and grace toward us on those in need.  Serving also fulfills man’s ultimate purpose – to glorify God.

How can we exercise our gifts and minister His grace?

Christ Community Chapel’s Serving Spree gives you a chance to learn more about Local Outreach ministry partners through which you may be called to serve.  It all starts with a visit.  For example…

You can enjoy a meal at Broken Chains’ Urbean Café, where Broken Chains’ clients are gaining valuable job experience. CCC families can learn more by visiting the Café at the Metro Transit Center at 631 S. Broadway in Akron. For couples, a visit to the Café can be a great double date.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM, and Saturdays, from 9 AM to 3 PM. For more info on all that Urbean Café does, watch the video on the website!

Another informative visit you could make is to the Mobility Worldwide facility, where mobility carts for leg disabled people are manufactured. The gift of mobility can empower people and transform their lives. Drop in at the shop at 1445 Commerce Drive in Stow, Ohio.  Hours are Tuesday through Thursday, from 9:30 AM to 12 PM.  The shop welcomes tours by individuals, families and community groups.

Serving Spree - You Can Be Jesus' Hands and Feet!

…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

From Matthew 20:28

If you follow Jesus, He will lead you into serving.

The Gospel is about following Jesus.  And, following Jesus is in part about serving as He serves, sacrificially.

His followers are Jesus’ hands and feet today.

As part of Christ Community Chapel’s Serving Spree, community groups have volunteered to serve the less fortunate at Haven of Rest rescue mission.  Providing food and shelter, as well as sharing the Gospel, are crucial for the rescue at at-risk men, women and children in the Akron area. These CCC community groups have recently stepped up to help serve meals at Haven of Rest.
