SOS: Faithful Servants & Friends: Faithful in the Big and Little Things

One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much…

From Luke 16:10

Jesus is looking for followers who are faithful in little things.

Simple Opportunities to Serve, or SOS, is all about small ways God’s people can make a difference in the name of Jesus. In April, SOS is featuring Christ Community Chapel ministry partner Faithful Servants Care Center, which provides Christ-like, compassionate emergency medical care for those in need.

So, how can I be faithful in the little things?

Here are a couple of simple examples.

* Donate over the counter meds. Better yet, invite friends and family to donate with you. This small basket of goods was donated at a family and friends Easter celebration.

Mini donations can add up

* Have your community group volunteer to help with a special one time need. One group recently became aware of a need of Faithful Servants to have equipment  relocated to help the ministry expand its impact.  No medical training required to help!  So, they had the pleasure of being the hands and feet of Jesus in transporting the equipment. One hour of volunteer time = huge help to a ministry like Faithful Servants!

Some of the volunteers who helped with the mini-move

* Stay in touch with the CCC Local Outreach Ministry Coordinators, like Kathi Bertolini, who knows the ongoing needs at Faithful Servants.

In what little things might I be faithful?

You can prayerfully consider the following:

PRAY – Sign up to be a prayer warrior for Faithful Servants Care Center. You will receive a monthly email with three prayer requests/praises to lift up to the Lord throughout the month. To sign up, email Barbara at Barbara.ammirati@ccchapel.com .

GIVE – Faithful Servants is in continual need of over-the-counter meds to help those in need of medical care. Items needed are Hydro-cortizone cream, Tylenol, and Motrin. Drop your donation in the Hudson campus SOS container located in the hallway on the way to the Gym from the Atrium. Mark your bag: 'FAITHFUL SERVANTS'.

GO – Prepare and deliver a meal for 10 to the Faithful Servants volunteers.  These men and women often come straight from their day jobs and begin a 4 hour volunteer shift at the Care Center. They take a half hour time slot from 5-5:30 PM to eat and pray before the first patients arrive. Your simple meal would be a tremendous blessing to them! Giving doesn't get much easier than this!

With Easter falling in the month that Christ Community Chapel is featuring our ministry partner, Faithful Servants, here's a simple idea that can have a big impact, both on the giver and the recipient.

When you are inviting family and friends to your Easter celebration on Sunday, why not ask them to bring an inexpensive donation to support Faithful Servants?

This basket hopefully will be filled with over-the-counter items that Faithful Servants is always in need of:  Tylenol, Motrin, and Hydro-cortisone cream.  Bring the items you collect to the church the following Sunday and place them in the Hudson campus SOS (Simple Opportunities to Serve) container located in the hallway on the way to the gym from the atrium.

Wishing everyone a Blessed Easter!

SOS: Help Faithful Servants Go Mobile!

During the month of April, Christ Community Chapel will continue to feature our ministry partner, Faithful Servants, with suggestions of how YOU can get involved with this very worthy local ministry!

After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God.

Luke 8:1

Jesus’s ministry is a traveling one.

Jesus’ formula is give up, go to, be with. He is Emmanuel, God with us.

How is this lived out?

Faithful Servants Care Center (FSCC) encourages those without medical insurance to come to its Tallmadge facility for emergency treatment. However, in the spirit of Jesus’ formula, FSCC has gone mobile to extend Christ-like compassion to those in need in other locations.

Tell me more.

FSCC has on order a van similar to the one pictured here.

Expected delivery is in May. It will have the FSCC logo on it to make the ministry, and God’s love in action, more visible in the Akron area. Of course, the expansion of the ministry will require additional volunteer staffing by doctors and nurses. And, additional medical supplies will be needed.

We have an opportunity to help Faithful Servants boost the impact of its work for the Kingdom of God.

What are my options?

Please consider helping in one or more of the following ways:

PRAY – Sign up to be a prayer warrior for Faithful Servants Care Center. You will receive a monthly email with three prayer requests/praises to lift up to the Lord throughout the month. To sign up, email Barbara at Barbara.ammirati@ccchapel.com .

SOS: Help Faithful Servants Bring Healing to the Needy

During the month of April, Christ Community Chapel will feature our ministry partner, Faithful Servants, with suggestions of how YOU can get involved with this very worthy local ministry!

Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.
Psalm 30:2

God is our help and healer.

This is especially true of those without medical insurance who are facing a difficult economy.  Dr. Sue Meyer on Faithful Servants Care Center's mission:

What does God’s healing look like today?

One visible evidence of God’s love in action is the work of Faithful Servants Care Center (FSCC) in Tallmadge. Faithful Servants exists to provide urgent care services with a Christ-like compassion for those without insurance and the economic means to access traditional health care. Many of FSCC's volunteers are doctors and nurses who donate their time, energy and skills for the healing of neighbors in need.

Sounds great, but I’m not a ‘doc.’

You can still be Jesus’ hands and feet for your neighbor.
