The very spring of our
actions is the love of Christ. ...His purpose in dying for them is that
their lives should now be no longer lived for themselves but for Him Who died
and rose again for them.
From: 2 Corinthians, Chapter 5 (Phillips)
The love of Christ is
Love in Action.
The Son of
God loved us sinners enough to die for our sake. That powerful love fills and
transforms the hearts of those who belong to Jesus Christ.
How does Christ’s love
drive action?
One example
is how God’s people at Christ Community Chapel literally wait in line for the
chance to provide for neighbors in need. CCC’s Thanksgiving Baskets drive
is in full swing, with a goal for church members and friends to donate 1,100
baskets of food for the less fortunate in the Akron area.
Most folks are
pressed for time, and do not enjoy waiting in line, even for a good cause.
However, the people of God joyfully wait for the chance to sign up for a Thanksgiving Basket, to fill it with enough food to feed 10 to 12 people, and to drop it off
at Christ Community Chapel’s Hudson campus for distribution to those in need.
These baskets are a visible sign of God’s love overflowing from the
hearts of His people to others.
How do I get in the
flow?
Consider
these possibilities:
PRAY – Pray for the families who will be
receiving these baskets of food and the ministries who will be delivering them.
GIVE – Make a Thanksgiving Basket for 10
to 12 people as part of CCC’s yearly Thanksgiving Basket Initiative. For more
information, contact Judi Dalton at: judidalton7@yahoo.com .
GO – Help with the collection and
organization of the Thanksgiving Baskets on Monday, November 24th
from 3 PM to 6 PM at the CCC Hudson campus. Other campuses have different schedules. For more details, contact Judi Dalton at: judidalton7@yahoo.com .
