For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the
Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks
for you, remembering you in my prayers.
Ephesians
1:15,16
It is good to give thanks when we see the faithfulness and love of
others.
In
Ephesians, the Apostle Paul rejoices in the evidence of faith and love in the
believers. Likewise, we have cause to celebrate when fellow believers live
out their faith by putting love into action.
Love in action – when?
The love of
God was put in action on May 7th, when volunteers and friends of
Blessings of Summit and Portage Counties participated in the annual fundraiser,
a biking and hiking event. Participants get sponsors who agree to donate a
certain amount for every mile biked or walked.
The Annual Blessings Hike/Bike Charity Event
raises money to pay for child care for the teen moms that Blessings supports
and mentors in their efforts to finish their education.
Let’s give thanks in the here and now!
So,
thanks and rejoicing are not limited to biblical times. The love that
was poured out by followers of Jesus for teen moms is one more example of
believers knowing the story of God’s love for and redemption of man. In turn, believers, out of gratitude, are
passing on God’s love to the less fortunate, as they live out the Gospel
through love in action – acts of service to benefit others.
