CCC Serving Spree: Doing It for Jesus

‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

From Matthew 25

Jesus takes our acts of justice and mercy personally.

When our love for Jesus motivates us to serve the less fortunate, He rejoices.  Sacrificial service enables us to be Christ incarnate to those in need.

I want Him to rejoice. What can I do?

Here are some suggestions for community groups, families or individuals to consider, as Christ Community Chapel’s Serving Spree gets into full swing:

South Street Ministries  is hosting a Front Porch meeting February 6th, from 7 to 8:15 PM. This is an opportunity linked to Pastor Jim Colledge’s Act II initiative. Join Jim Colledge for an encouraging evening as you will get to see some wonderful things the Lord has done with funds donated by Christ Community Chapel Micah 6:8 initiatives. You will also hear from some CCC Act II members who have played an important role in the transformation of the Front Porch building and the ministry inside the walls of that facility. If your group has a mix of Act II and younger members, please know all from your group are invited. RSVP to: Kathy.Grubbs@ccchapel.com

CCC Serving Spree: Be the Light of the World

“You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
From Matthew 5

Followers of Jesus are to glorify God through gracious deeds done in His name.
In doing so, we shed light on the reality that the Kingdom of God has come.

What kinds of gracious deeds?
Christ Community Chapel’s Serving Spree provides numerous, easy-to-find ways you can serve the needy through CCC Local Outreach ministry partners.  To view a list of potential Kingdom Assignments, visit: http://kingdom.ccchapel.com .
On this website, you can learn more about the missions of our Local Outreach ministries, to see which ones resonate with you.  And, you can identify possible Kingdom Assignments, or generous, gracious deeds for which you might be called to volunteer.

What is my calling?
You may see something on the Kingdom Assignments list that fits with your interests. A big aspect of this is how God has equipped you, perhaps for an assignment of your own design.
For example, you may have several life skills that could benefit people in need.

Clients of Rahab Ministries enjoy home-prepared meals donated by CCC members.

Other friends and members have done after school tutoring through Urban Vision's Set On Success program. (Photo source: http://www.urbanvisionministry.org/education/set-on-success-after-school/ )
Recently, a CCC member gave a mini-seminar to teen moms and their mentors at Blessings of Summit and Portage Counties on how to save money by couponing.  When the moms realized how much they could stretch their shopping dollars by combining coupons and promotional offers, they were truly excited!

How to start?
Start simple, by exploring the Kingdom Assignments on the website.  Try a one-time assignment, to get your feet wet, and to better understand the ministry partner.
If you want to get creative, look at the needs of the different ministry partners listed on the website. If you get an idea, contact Barbara Ammirati of CCC’s Local Outreach Team at: barbara.ammirati@ccchapel.com   .
We are rejoicing that over 2,000 people have taken Serving Spree commitment cards.  Our prayer is that together, we can show how God’s gracious Kingdom has arrived for our neighbors in need. Let’s glorify our Father in heaven!
