…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his
life as a ransom for many.
From
Matthew 20:28
Those who are growing
in Christ long to serve.
Through His substitutionary sacrifice, Jesus poured out the
love of God on us. Likewise, Jesus’
followers look for opportunities to show God’s love to others.
This gets practical.
As practical as putting together boxed lunches.
Recently, a Christ Community Chapel community group
volunteered to create about 90 boxed lunches for people at a Rahab Ministries
training event. The group members saw it
as a great ‘hands on’ chance to support those at Rahab who reach, rescue
and redeem women ensnared in sex trafficking.
It also gets joyful!
As we live out the Gospel by serving, we are reminded how
much Jesus, our savior, has done out of love for us. One of the ways God restores to us the joy of
our salvation and our thankfulness is by having us serve in His name. This
community group has found great joy and enthusiasm in acting as the hands and
feet of Jesus to help others!
Get yourself some joy!
