18 I pray that the eyes of your heart
may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called
you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and
his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the
mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead
and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…
From Ephesians 1:18-20
God invites us to open the eyes of our spiritual hearts.
In the
resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has used His power to ignite eternal hope in
Christians.
God also invites us to open our eyes to spiritual needs of others.
It is
possible to for believers to be completely unaware of those in need who may be
only a short distance from where we live. Perhaps you sense a call to open the
eyes of your heart in compassion toward the less fortunate.
For
example, the First Glance youth center ministers to the relational, spiritual
and mentoring needs of young people in the Kenmore area of Akron, Ohio. First Glance serves as a bridge between the
unchurched, at-risk youth of Kenmore and the church. Through caring, loving and
genuine relationships, First Glance staff and volunteers aim to show young
people the love of God and hope He offers.
Sounds interesting. What should I do?
You can
prayerfully consider attending the First Glance open house this Sunday, April
10th at 12 PM to learn more about opportunities pray, give and go in
support of the Kenmore youth center. The center is located at 943 Kenmore Boulevard,
Akron, Ohio.
