Why Not Me…Volunteering at South Street!

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

Isaiah 6:8

God calls. Do we listen?

God called for a prophet to speak to His people, and Isaiah answered.  God still calls His people to all kinds of assignments today.  Are you open to hearing His voice? To trying new ways of sharing His love and the Gospel?

Give me an example.

We generally don’t discern our true calling when we sit tight. God can better give us guidance when we are in motion. This shows we have saving faith by making ourselves available.

"We are low this year on volunteers for After School and meals for Open Gym. Would you please pray about serving with these programs and forward this message onto others who are interested in connecting with South Street Ministries!

1. After School is Moving! -- South Street is moving the After School program from 130 W. South Street to 1095 Edison Ave., the location of Miller Avenue Church. Miller Avenue is a new partner that is offering a larger facility for the After School program. After School will still run from 3 pm to 5:30 pm every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. After School will be starting on January the 20th.

There will be a training for After School on MLK Day, January 19th, at the Front Porch from 2:30 to 4:30. Respond to josephjtucker@gmail.com to RSVP !

We are looking for committed tutors and mentors that can come weekly to serve at After School. We would LOVE to have 4-5 individuals daily serving with After School. To sign-up, please submit your name on the GoogleDoc link below:

2. Open Gym is back !!! -- Starting on January 22nd and operating on Thursday nights, South Street's Open Gym basketball program is back. This is a GREAT ONE-TIME Service opportunity for groups! Every night we feed 20-30 young men and we would invite you and your group to choose a night and bring a meal !! Open Gym continues at St. Paul's Church on W. Market!

Open Gym also offers weekly tutoring for the young men. We are in need of a few committed tutors for Thursday evenings between 6 and 7. Please reply to this message to sign up as an Open Gym tutor!!"
