Simple Opportunities to Serve: Haven of Rest

He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
Psalm 102:17

How does God respond to the prayers of the destitute today?

Followers of Jesus Christ are to respond in love toward those in need. This mirrors how God, by His grace, has forgiven us by washing away the sins we could not cleanse. We are to be Christ incarnate in helping our neighbors.

Donations of food or Hope Totes items for Haven of Rest can be dropped off in this container at the CCC Hudson Campus located in the Hall from the Atrium to the Gym.

How do I do this in March, 2014?

This month’s SOS (Simple Opportunity to Serve) at Christ Community Chapel focuses on Haven of Rest Ministries. Haven meets the needs of destitute men, women and children in the Akron area. Please prayerfully consider these options:

PRAY – Sign up to be a prayer warrior for Haven of Rest. You will receive a monthly email with three prayer requests/praises for the ministry to lift up in prayer throughout the month. To sign up, contact Barbara Ammirati at:

SERVE – Gather a group of 5 to 7 of your friends and schedule a night to serve a dinner at Haven of Rest. (You will be guided through the entire process by the staff at Haven of Rest. It is a wonderful experience!) Contact Duncan Othen (CCC Local Outreach Coordinator for Haven of Rest) at:

GIVE – During March, bring in canned or boxed food to help feed 400 homeless men and women each day at Haven of Rest! Drop if off in the SOS container located in the hallway on the way to the Gym at the Hudson campus. Mark bags with HAVEN OF REST. You may also want to drop off contents for the Haven Hope Totes that are described at: <click here>.  Please mark those items : HAVEN OF REST HOPE TOTES.
