UV Give Challenge: Love God, love your neighbor

Urban Vision Giving Initiative from CCC Student Ministries on Vimeo.

To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
Mark 12:33

The Christ Community Chapel Student Ministries (high school and middle school) across all four campuses have been challenged to love their neighbors this Christmas season.

That’s nice. What’s up with that?

The Urban Vision Giving Initiative (#UVGive) challenges our students to give up some of the Christmas gifts they would normally receive.  Money that would have gone to the gifts will instead buy food for the kids at Urban Vision in the North Hill area of Akron.

Buy food? Tell me more.

Urban Vision has a problem, but it’s a good one.

UV has had such a great impact on at-risk kids through its after school tutoring program, Set On Success, that the organization has seen a spike in demand for meals.  Normally, UV had been serving about 20 meals a day. Now, it must ramp up to 90 meals a day.

How come?

Urban Vision reached one Latina girl who was impressed with the hope, love and academic help she received, as she was also told about the Gospel. God’s love overflowed from her heart, and she invited about 50 of her friends, who have also come to UV.  As the world has come to Urban Vision’s doorstep, kids of Middle Eastern and Asian backgrounds have responded similarly.

And UV is called to feed them.

How do we help?

Students at all the campuses have already been challenged to pledge $25 or more toward this initiative, and they have caught the vision. Just with our middle school students alone, we have over $4,000 pledged. Some have also committed to volunteer work at UV.   We can pitch in to increase the impact.

Please pray about coming alongside our students in supporting Urban Vision.  If you would like to donate, or to volunteer at Urban Vision, contact Todd Iannetta at:
