“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a
child shall not enter it.”
Mark 10:15
Those who belong to the Kingdom of God are marked by childlike
simplicity and trust.
Every human being is made in the image of God. They therefore have innate dignity. This includes people marginalized by the
world system, and children.
Children can serve in Jesus’ name.
Their simplicity and trust specially equip them to know
Christ, grow in Him and serve Him.
How does this work today?
It can work when we serve as a family to bring the compassion of the Kingdom
of God closer to the marginalized and the less advantaged.
For example, Craig is Charlie’s grandfather. Craig works at Mobility Worldwide OH-Stow,
which is also known as the PET Place, where PET mobility carts are manufactured. Craig brings Charlie to the PET Place to show
Charlie why Craig and the other volunteers serve there.
Here, Craig is showing Charlie photos of the leg-disabled,
marginalized people whose lives are transformed, in the name of Jesus, for the
better through the gift of a PET mobility cart.
Craig has received Jesus’ compassion for the less fortunate. In turn, he
is passing that compassion on to his grandson.
Now that Charlie understands the ‘why’ of Jesus’ compassion,
Craig teaches Charlie the ‘how’ of putting that compassion into serving. Craig assembles Personal Energy
Transportation (PET) carts in the Stow PET Place. Craig is passing on his passion and knowledge
of hands-on serving to Charlie. Craig
clearly sees Charlie’s ability to be the hands and feet of Jesus to aid the
less fortunate. Likewise, Charlie is
showing the rest of us what it means to receive the Kingdom of God like a
little child.
What does this mean for us?
If you are a member or friend of Christ Community Chapel, it
means you have a great opportunity for your entire family to serve in Jesus’
name through the Local Outreach Serving Spree.
Likewise, if you are a member of a CCC community group, the Serving
Spree opens the door for parents to get their children actively introduced to
serving alongside adults.
For more information on the CCC Serving Spree, see our
website at:
You can
also check this website for information on Serving Spree tours of the PET Place
and other Local Outreach ministry partner locations. These tours will
help you understand the heartbeat of our ministry partners. You may also
be moved by the mission and vision of certain ministries that could benefit
from your serving.
