Urban Vision: Great Volunteering Opportunity!

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Matthew, Chapter 9: 37-38

Are you called to the harvest?

There are times in the life of the Kingdom when the Lord calls new laborers. Today, we see opportunities to extend God’s kingdom through Christ Community Chapel ministry partner Urban Vision.

What is the need?

Urban Vision is dedicated to reaching the North Akron Community for Christ - One Child and Family at a Time. Urban Vision has two specific, urgent needs for the sake of kids in North Hill who need people just like you to show them Christ's love and help them succeed!

Urban Vision is in desperate need of...

10 volunteers to help at Kids' Club on Fridays 2:30-5:00pm – Urban Vision advises, “we made a few changes to Kids’ Club to reach new kids and...boy did we ever!!! We need helpers in each grade (PK-8th) to love on the kids, build relationships, and a little crowd control. We are in the midst of a great opportunity to share Christ's love with new kids, but we need your help!"

"5 volunteers on Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 PM and 5 volunteers from 4:00-6:00 PM to help at the Set On Success after school tutoring program - We are very, very low on volunteers on Tuesdays. We need helpers to tutor & help in the gym.”

Please prayerfully consider helping on Fridays or Tuesdays...and share the need with your friends.

Simple Opportunity to Serve: CCC’s Haven of Rest Clothing Drive

Photo from: http://reuserefashion.com/2013/12/tis-season-give-donate/

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

Matthew 25:40

Good works do not save, but the saved do good works.

When followers of Jesus meet the needs of the less fortunate, we are bearing fruit that shows our gratitude for God’s grace.

What good works?

Supporting Haven of Rest through Christ Community Chapel’s clothing drive is a Simple Opportunity to Serve (SOS). Haven is CCC’s featured SOS ministry partner for September.

How?

Prayerfully seek God’s leading on one of these options:

Give: Haven of Rest has an upcoming clothing drop off weekend. Please bring gently used clothing to the Christ Community Chapel Hudson campus the weekend of Sept. 20-21 before or after service. Drop off in the Atrium of the Hudson Campus.  Be sure to mark your donations ‘Haven of Rest.’

Serve: Gather a group of 5-7 of your friends and schedule a night to serve dinner at Haven of Rest. You will be guided through the entire process by the staff at Haven. It is a wonderful experience! Contact Duncan Othen (CCC local Outreach Coordinator for Haven of Rest) at: duncanothen@hotmail.com

Pray: Sign up to be a prayer warrior for Haven of Rest. You will receive a monthly email with 3 prayer requests/praises for the ministry to lift up in prayer throughout the month. To sign up, contact Barbara Ammirati at: Barbara.Ammirati@ccchapel.com

Haven of Rest is Christ Community Chapel’s SOS (Simple Opportunities to Serve) ministry partner for September!

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Matthew, Chapter 6

God provides for the needy.
He meets needs for food, clothing and other necessities. However, Jesus reminds us in this passage the life is more than food.

God provides through His people, who serve in His name.
Haven of Rest Ministries has provided for the temporal needs of the less fortunate in the Akron area for over 70 years. Since life is more than food, Haven also ministers to the eternal needs of men, women and children. This CCC ministry partner introduces people to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Who is the Bread of Life.

How can I be part of this?
Consider which of these options may be a calling for you:

Help PSS Support Parents-to-be!

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19

God is in the business of supplying needs.

He did this through the generosity of members of the early Christian church.  Today, He continues to do this through His people.

How are we called to help?

One specific need relates to the people served by CCC ministry partner Pregnancy Solutions and Services, or PSS. Our friends at PSS use Emma’s Closet to help new parents clothe their babies, and provide other items for baby care.

For example, when a client has a baby, PSS gives the client a layette as a gift. It is filled with travel size baby wash, shampoo, lotion, baby socks and related items. PSS also makes items available to soon-to-be parents for taking classes in preparation for their baby’s birth. The parents can earn points which can be redeemed at Emma’s Closet for baby care items.

In helping these parents, God’s people can be instrumental in demonstrating God’s love for the parents, and generosity that can be life saving for the babies.

What can I do?

You can drop off needed items in the SOS bin at the Christ Community Chapel Hudson campus. This bin is located in the hallway between the atrium and the gymnasium.  Please mark items ‘For PSS’.

Here are the items PSS needs: baby towels, wash cloths, burp cloths, bibs, baby shampoo, body wash, wipes, lap pads, receiving blankets, baby socks and brand new clothing – all sizes for boys and girls…especially boys and girls 0-6 month outfits and P.J.s.  PSS clients also need nearly new clothing for girls 0-3 months and 24 month-3T as well as boys, 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 12, 18 and 24 months – 3T.

The CCC Local Outreach team will ensure these items get to PSS and their clients.

For information on volunteering, prayer support needs or donating to PSS, call 330.644.4490, or e-mail at info@pregsolutions.org .
