Finishing well!



And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

What’s this about?

God is faithful and perseverant. And His people are to mirror His character.


How does this look today?

One example is the enduring generosity of the Encore ladies’ group at Christ Community Chapel. Here is a photo of their food donations to support Haven of Rest, our March SOS (Simple Opportunities to Serve) partner ministry. 




Thanks to all CCC members and friends who have come alongside the Encore group in this SOS effort. For those who have yet to participate, won’t you join in helping us finish well in this month’s effort to bless the poor and homeless served by Haven?




How?

Prayerfully consider these options:


PRAY – Sign up to be a prayer warrior for Haven of Rest. You will receive a monthly email with three prayer requests/praises for the ministry to lift up in prayer throughout the month. To sign up, contact Barbara Ammirati at:

SERVE – Gather a group of 5 to 7 of your friends and schedule a night to serve a dinner at Haven of Rest. (You will be guided through the entire process by the staff at Haven of Rest. It is a wonderful experience!) Contact Duncan Othen (CCC Local Outreach Coordinator for Haven of Rest) at:

GIVE – During March, bring in canned or boxed food to help feed 400 homeless men and women each day at Haven of Rest! Drop it off in the SOS container located in the hallway on the way to the Gym at the Hudson campus. Mark bags with HAVEN OF REST. You may also want to drop off contents for the Haven Hope Totes that are described at: <click here>.  Please mark those items : HAVEN OF REST HOPE TOTES.

Real Hope for the City ~ Celebration and Workshop in Akron!

The Akron Chapel, South Street Ministries, and Urban Vision are joining hands to bring inspirational speaker Wayne Gordon to Akron the weekend of April 4-5.  Events start Friday night at the Akron Chapel, which is  free to the pubic, and continue with workshops and discussions on Saturday at Urban Vision, with a cost of $20 for the day (or $5 off if you register before the end of March.)  ~ For all the details, and to see a list of workshops to choose from (including one given by CCC's own Tim Chafins, Legacies of Success Executive Director) click  HERE.

SOS with Haven of Rest: Keep the Compassion Coming!


Thanks to the CCC members and friends who have responded so well to last week's post introducing our March SOS collaboration with Haven of Rest. Now, let's build on that initial momentum!


Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23



How do the poor and homeless see God’s compassion today?

In the prayers, generosity and acts of service of God’s people. Just as God is faithful, HIs people are called to new compassions every morning.


What can I do?

It’s simple. Keep the compassion coming by joining or continuing your support for CCC’s Simple Opportunities to Serve (SOS). In March, our SOS partner is Haven of Rest.

What’s happening so far?

Friends and members of CCC are stepping up by volunteering to serve at Haven, praying and donating food items.



 The SOS container at the CCC Hudson campus is in the hallway between the atrium and the gym.

Simple Opportunities to Serve: Haven of Rest



He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
Psalm 102:17


How does God respond to the prayers of the destitute today?

Followers of Jesus Christ are to respond in love toward those in need. This mirrors how God, by His grace, has forgiven us by washing away the sins we could not cleanse. We are to be Christ incarnate in helping our neighbors.




Donations of food or Hope Totes items for Haven of Rest can be dropped off in this container at the CCC Hudson Campus located in the Hall from the Atrium to the Gym.
